dc.description.abstractThe growing current population of older people emerges with the need for skilled professionals that match in their demands. The elder caregiver is inserted as a professional that assists the elderly in their basic and instrumental activities of daily living, emerging as an option to care for the dependent elderly. Because it is a category that does not have social representation, nor is it regulated their training to exercise the function of the qualification is not always required for those hires. Based on this assumption, this study aimed to evaluate how is the training of elder caregiver, identified in the literature the current knowledge of the profession. This is an integrative review by inserting seven articles only national, in which analyzed the profile of the elderly caregiver, their training and the role of nursing in the education of these professionals. It was identified that the feminization, lack of knowledge and overloading are the main features of Elder Caregiver profile. Although few studies on the subject, there is the importance of studying the profession of elder caregiver, since it is he who provides intermediate care to dependent elderly and their training is poor, the quality of care It will be affected.
