dc.description.abstractThis research is intended to give an overview of the evolution of Teaching Art in Brazil, highlighting the Visual Arts. Aims to define the reason given little support to the discipline, since the teachers do not have enough textbooks nor adequate space for classes in Brazilian public schools. The research focuses on the current status of arts education, through analysis of textbook and analysis of the main actors involved, seeing as it is directed and conceptualized. The intention is to provide a diagnosis for the purposes of a possible structuring of actions in order to further develop this field of teaching, mainly the production of learning materials more effective. From the study of history and context of the Arts Education in Brazil, will be shown the reasons why the current devaluation of the discipline since the early years. Through the use of questionnaires , will be traced an overview of arts education in elementary schools and middle currently focusing discussions on how discipline is seen by its main actors , and bring the analysis of a textbook, available by National Textbook program of the Ministry of Education.
