The aim of this work is to comprehend how race relations among secondary school black (pardos and blacks) and white adolescents is composed. It was analyzed how these adolescents interpret such associations within the classroom and elaborate their own conceptions on race issues. The research is qualitative and is depicted as a Case Study. The field research was made with a senior year class of a public high school in Belo Horizonte/MG. In this scenario, the following instruments were used as methodological scope: contributor observation of the classroom; submission of a socioeconomic profile questionnaire directed to young people and an opinion questionnaire on the teacher, regarding class issues; group discussion performances with students from different race and color; semi-structured interviews with four selected students; and use of documents and data related to the school and the young students who were in the investigation file of the institution, procedure that was similar to document analysis. Among the remarks of this investigation, we had the proof of the possibility of dealing with race relations among young blacks, pardos and whites students, since the category of race was significant in the process of perceptions of their own and others, amongst social interactions experienced by them inside and outside the school. Furthermore, race relations between different racial groups within the classroom are possible because they happen in conjunction with other important dimensions of the young condition, such as sociability and socio-cultural affinities, either by socio-economic profiles or students similarity. However, such perception was set up around a scenario of ambiguity and subtleness observed among race relations in our society, and within the everyday discourses of the students. The study of such discourses revealed racist points of view and, besides the related discourse and the non-interference of race issues in the students interactions, it was possible to analyze the contrasts, nuances and notes of such positions and speeches. In this way, this study aims to highlight the subtleness of race relations among the observed adolescents, taking into account a large number of social and racial representations. Moreover, the studied students are perceived as individuals inserted in a process of naturalization of race relations as how they are constituted nowadays. Such naturalization, silence and invisibility of racial prejudice inside and outside the school seem to reach, in a great deal, these individuals conceptions about the black racial group. Taking into consideration the ambiguities of this scenario detected in this study, and combined with overcoming racial prejudices movements and maintenance racial prejudices movements, as of daily life and point of views from these young people, which, by the way, challenges the secondary school revealing the demand for educational practices heading for ethnic and race relation education, in order to explore the potential of that youth condition. Approaches which in this particular study neither appeared on the agenda of the teacher nor in the institutions.
