The present article aims to discuss the relation between the usual practices in self-built urban occupations, at Belo Horizonte, (Minas Gerais, Brazil), and the concepts related to social technology, seeking for possibilities of another narrative that contrasts with the hegemonic discourse and modifies the approach to those territories. In order to support the debate, the case of Parque das Ocupações do Barreiro will be presented as a project that involves both agendas of housing and environmental preservation struggles. The project is an example of resistance to the neoliberal production of urban space leadered by the Capital-State.
