This thesis aims to study the presence of the hydraulic tile in the capital of Minas Gerais mapping, from a historical perspective, the trajectory and significance of its use and technique of production. The hydraulic tile as a constructive component runs the architecture of Belo Horizonte from the origin of the city. This coating, a strong dash of constructive heritage of Italian immigrants, has had frequent use in buildings, when, around the 1960s, with industrial and technological development, was replaced by manufactured products. The results show that the technique and uses of hydraulic tile were recovered, in the transition from XX century to the XXI, with another meaning and new values that update the sense of using of the hydraulic tile as a protagonist element the environment for which it is known.
