The nursing audit is a system of review and control to keep the hospital administration informed regarding the efficiency and effectiveness of development programs. The auditing process consists of a formal and systematic evaluation of a certain activity in order to check the conformity of its administrative components, as well as their compliance with thestandards and requirements for the development of this activity. The nurse performs auditing as a private activity, and must organize, direct, coordinate, evaluate, advise and opinion on services of nursing , being regulated by Resolution 266/2001 . Nursing audit contributes to thehospital organization in order to analyze the quality of services offered by the health institutions to ensure better performance and resolution, as well as providing suggestions and guidelines that will subsidize the transformative educational initiatives to be adopted. In this sense, the objective of this study was to analyze the scientific literature on the influence of auditing the process of continuing education of the nursing staff. This is an integrative literature review. The following databases were used: LILACS, MEDLINE and BDENF. The result of this work allows us to state that auditing provides grants for nursing education activities as they know the quality of care provided in institutions and improvements actions that could improve. Thus the work of the nursing audit is important as actions as it subsidizes care planning and management of activities and their implementation.
