Critérios ambientais para seleção de materiais na construção civil

Abstract

Many environmental impacts are cause by the construction sector, due to extraction and high consumption of natural resources, waste of raw material and energy intensive . For this reason, proper detailing and application of criteria for selection of materials designed to minimize environmental impacts and waste generation become an important tool for environmental analysis when applied to the design of the building. This work also highlights the importance of applying environmental criteria for selecting materials in the planning and design of the construction project, as it allows the development of strategies to minimize likely impacts to the environment by reducing the use of natural resources and materials, and therefore the reduction of waste generated by the sector. In another aspect, the tool material selection can be applied to establish evaluation criteria and use of materials in the building, with a potential increase in the durability of the building.
