Overweight and obesity in childhood and adolescence are of concern because of the risk of persistence into adulthood and associated comorbidities. Obesity is a disorder of the nutritional status translated by an increase in adipose tissue, reflecting the excess fat resulting from the positive balance of power in the relationship-caloric intake. Childhood obesity has become a risk factor and concern for the World Health Organization and the whole family worried about the health of their families. As the obesity includes several physiological aspects of risk such as heart problems, breathing and metabolism, is more than necessary to learn the daily diet of children and adolescents, guiding and showing healthy alternatives for the future can have a healthy life and good health. This work was conducted through a literature review on the subject, which is expected with this study that the health professionals of the Family Health Team renovation as well as the entire city of Bocaiuva, can reflect on the primary care in prevention of childhood obesity, thereby providing the implementation of actions to promote health, which may benefit children with a comprehensive care according to their needs for physical well-being, mental and social. It is also hoped that this work will support programs to adequacy of services provided in relation to the population served.
