dc.description.abstractThe objective of this study was to investigate whether, and how, the design is set as a relevant process in the relationship between technology and social change, and how these relationships, in turn, determine the need, the use and interface of the objects. The basis for this subject was mainly analytical concepts and tools of Social Studies of Science and Technology, incorporating diagnostics and analysis on contemporary forms of consumption, as well as the theories and practices in the design of objects, focusing on a study case, which deals with changes in ways of eating and cooking utensils, with particular attention to the cutlery: fork, knife and spoon. The analysis of the transformations of technical objects kitchen was grounded in the study of models and studies case of Science and Technology Studies, but within the context of the contemporary history and theories of design practices, but also the interrelations with the social changes and transformations in the techno-science. From a methodological point of view, this work is mainly of a comparative analysis of qualitative nature, based on a discussion and interpretation of documentary material. This research possesses interest in two ways. On the one hand, it is a study case of the sociology of knowledge and sociology of technology, from everyday objects, relatively less studied by Science and Technology Studies. On the other hand, constitutes an observation window for additional consumption sociology and design theory and practice.
