| dc.description.abstract | The thesis views the urban building as a product of the art of edifying, engaged in its cultural and social dimensions. We are interested in recognizing the information concerning urban building as part of the field of knowledge and in understanding the social relations between the subjects all of them as elements to investigate information as a socialpractice. As such, we investigate (1) the urban building as a tectonic object, function of cultural and informational actions, social interactions and symbolic significance; (2) the information-base from the social-cultural perspective and rooted in the domain analysis which allows to constitute the informational practice of the discourse communities engaged in its knowledge domain and their informational structures; and (3) the social space, structured by the actions, social interactions and representations faced by the actors and also theirsocial characteristics. The Pampulha journal, published by a group of architects from Belo Horizonte between 1979 and 1984, forms the empirical base. The conclusion guides us to an alternative view of the urban building the tectonic object as an expression of informationalpractice. | |
