dc.description.abstractThe control chart X is a fundamental tool when it comes to statistical process control. By virtue of its being easy to analyze and to implement, making use of it in industrial process is quite usual. However, it does not perform well for small average shifts.The purpose of this article is to evaluete the performance of the X control chart using Klein's supplementary rule (an out-of-control signal is given if two successive points fall out side either of such control limits).The findings show that the ARL has been small for small variations in the process when making use Klein's supplementary rule.
