dc.description.abstractThis research is in educational strategies used in hospitals for adherence to hand hygiene (HM) by health professionals. This study aims to analyze educational strategies described in the literature that promoted greater adherence to HM . This is an integrative literature review, the literature survey was conducted by the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and covered international publications, the periods 2005 to2013, available in the MEDLINE, LILACS and BDENF 26 articles, 13 of which comprised the final sample of this research were identified. The results of this research were presented in three thematic groups, namely: Group 1: Educational Strategies used in the hospital environment on HM. Group 2: Educational Strategies multifaceted: promoting greater adherence to HM by health professionals. Professional. Group 3: Nurse: multiplier of strategies to increase adherence to the HM agent. In the thematic group 1 noted the importance of educational practices toincrease the HM between health professionals in the hospital setting. 13 articles of 100 % of shares used for Continuing Education, is considered a very important tool for increasing adherence to the HM program. In thematic group 2 was evidenced that the multifaceted / multi-modal strategy promotes greater adherence to HM by health professionals in the hospital setting. Of the 13 research articles, 100 % used some action Multifaceted Strategy. However only 15.4 % of the articles applied a larger set of actions according to the Multifaceted Strategy OMS.O result was an improvement in adherence and consistency over time as the practice of HM in hospital. The majority 84.6 % of the studies used the partial deployment of shares of multifaceted strategy and also observed an improvement of adhesion, but was lower than those who used a greater number of shares of multimodal strategy. In the Thematic Group 3 the nurse was the professional category that most joined the practice of HM with 44 %, followed by Nursing Assistants and Technicians with 30 % compliance. As for the doctors this rate is even lower, with a total of 26 % in relation to compliance with HM. Results presented in this study indicate that this professional is also a critical factor of educational strategies for HM in hospital and contributed to the increasedparticipation of the other members of the healthcare team HM , reinforcing the importance of such a measure for patient safety for the care and assists nursing for controlling Related Infections at Health care ( IRAS ) provided by these professionals. was concluded that the present review of the literature brought relevant considerations in relation to the educational strategies used in hospitals to increase adherence Hand Hygiene ( HM ) by health professionals , showing that the multifaceted / multi-modal strategy is the way to develop a new culture focusing onprevention of HAIs and patient safety
