Abstract
The reduction in bone height after extraction in posterior areas of the maxillary is a clinical situation commonly encountered during rehabilitation planning. Extensive surgical procedures of bone grafting are necessary so that we can utilize conventional sized implants in these sites, which increase the time, cost and morbidity of the treatment. The short implants appear that way as suitable alternative and fairly predictable results for these cases, since the use follow some rules for its clinical application. This article reviews the literature on the efficacy, predictability, and biomechanical aspects of the clinical use of shortimplants.
