Resumen
The present study aims at a preliminary analysis of the implications of the mass use of 3D printing (additive manufacturing) in various business models as an instrument capable of enhancing intellectual property infringements. It was discussed the existence of legal adequacy, from the material point of view, of the Brazilian norms to address the issue, the need for possible adjustments, or even the creation of new legislation. In order to do so, we have presented definitions about additive manufacturing, 3D printing, history of technology, main technologies with potential for massification, and their interaction with information and communication technologies. We present critics to the treatment given to 3D printing today, based on information collected in the market. The work had as an incentive the legal uncertainty experienced by the defenders of intellectual property, which has been questioning the ability of the current patent system to solve any problems of IP infringement with the use of 3D printing. Final considerations have been made that there is in fact a potential for infringements of intellectual property rights through the use of 3d printing. However, national standards are still capable of responding to the aspirations of industry players. However, greater attention should be paid to the issue, given that advances in technology can point to different paths
