Resumen
This work addresses the impacts caused by the introduction of embedded generation in electrical losses and steady-state voltage profile in distribution systems. The distribution systems usage tariff defined in Brazil is investigated. It is verified that, for networks with voltage levels below 88 kV, no technical criterion regarding the impacts of the generation in the system is considered in the definition of the tariff.Initially, the technical impacts caused by introduction of embedded generation in technical losses and steady-state voltage profile are evaluated. As a consequence, performance indexes are proposed. These indexes quantify impact levels and allow classifying generation connection points in relation to the effect benefit or damagetheyprovide to the system. Finally, a modification in the composition of the distribution system usage tariff paid by embedded generators is proposed. The modification is based on the economic valuation of the impacts of the generators on system operation and is determined usingthe proposed indexes. Therefore, tariff incentives for distributed generators connected below 88kV that may increase or diminish tariffs, are calculated. By this way, a tariff component associated with the location of the generator is introduced. Illustrative results, obtained with two radial distribution systems, are presented.
