The recent increasing number of renewable energy sources connected to the national electrical system have increased the number of installed power converters in the country. Photovoltaic and wind power generation companies have been consulting Engineering firms in order to verify the efficiency of converters installed on field which have already started their operation. In this study were analyzed the main international standards that provide the procedures for measuring conversion efficiency in many different countries. Also, a real system with a small converter has been verified. There has been collected data from a 12 kW inverter in a commercial central power generation, being the power input and output metered by a portable power meter dedicated to efficiency analysis and by the monitoring SCADA system available in the plant. The obtained data were processed and compared between the measurement systems and the data provided by the manufacturers in equipment catalog. The result achieved were compliant with the manufacturer data. However, it has been observed that small deviation on the input and output converter variables may introduce significantly changes in the efficiency calculation, justifying a deeper study of these systems.
