With the rapid urbanization of cities, society faces many problems arising from the irrational and exaggerated use of cars: congestion, noise, environmental and atmospheric pollution, enhancement / depletion of energy resources, among others. To avoid saturation of the road system and combat such externalities, governments have sought to policies to prioritize and modernizate of public transport. Among the alternatives, the Bus Rapid Transit - BRT stands out as a rapid deployment at a low cost system, offering comfort and agility for users among the various possibilities on the market. This research seeks to assess the issue of accessibility to the implementation of a BRT system can provide the population through possible reduction of travel times and identify the factors that contribute or not to the system responsiveness. For this, we conducted a literature review about the system and carried out a case study in Belo Horizonte city (Brazil), which opened its BRT system in March 2014. The data collected and set parameters for the case study were analyzed to identify factors that have been deployed efficiently and to achieve the desired success and the need to be improved, for example, the waiting time for loading the feeder lines to the success of the system.
