Imagem e poder : considerações iniciais acerca das imagens discursivas sobre Augusto nas biografias e histórias do Principado Romano (séculos I a.C. A III d.C.)

Abstract

Abstract: Through this article, we propose to analyze some initial considerations about the discursive images of Augustus in the Biographies and Histories of the Roman Principate, I b.C. to III a.C. For that reason, we selected the work of Velleius Paterculus, Roman History (I b.C. - I a.C.), the biographies of Plutarch of Chaeronea, Caesar and Anthony (I and II a.C.), the biographies of Caius Suetonius Tranquillus, The Divine Julius and the Divine Augustus (I and II a.C.), the manuscripts of Lucius Florus, Epitome of Titus Livius (I and II a.C.), and, finally, the work of Dion Cássio, Roman History (II and III a.C.).

Resumo: Neste artigo, propomo-nos a analisar algumas considerações iniciais acerca das imagens discursivas sobre Augusto nas Biografias e Histórias do Principado Romano, séculos I a.C. a III d.C. Para isto, selecionamos a obra de Veléio Patérculo, História Romana (séculos I a.C. - I d.C.), as biografias de Plutarco de Queronéia, César e Antônio (séculos I e II d.C.), as biografias de Caio Suetônio Tranquilo, O Divino Júlio e o Divino Augusto (séculos I e II d.C.), os escritos de Lúcio Anneu Floro, Epítome de Tito Lívio (séculos I e II d.C.), e, por fim, a obra de Dion Cássio, História Romana(século II e III d.C.).
