Mapping the commercial potential of wearable devices and their applications for their market launch

Abstract

Este artículo es un análisis bibliométrico de inteligencia competitiva basado en datos de mercado para determinar el estado comercial del mercado de wearables. La investigación se basa en el análisis de datos de una base de datos comercial que nos proporciona los insumos para extraer, recopilar, analizar y procesar datos. Nuestro alcance es, en un principio, un enfoque general de los wearables. Una vez sentadas las bases, realizamos un análisis del mercado de wearables para determinar el tipo de wearables, siendo los wearables más compartidos industrialmente, industrias de wearables que más se desarrollan, productos y/o servicios en desarrollo, aplicaciones de wearables. Analizamos 3078 empresas. Se detectaron las siguientes industrias: Electrónica de Consumo, Salud y Fitness, Servicios Médicos, Telecomunicaciones, Textil y Automatización Industrial encontrando que la industria más exitosa es Electrónica de Consumo con 95.34% de seguidores. Finalmente, encontramos que los usos más importantes son Internet de las Cosas, Salud Digital, Rehabilitación, Telemedicina, y las aplicaciones emergentes son Teleconsultoría, Procesamiento de señales, Monitoreo remoto de pacientes, Terapia física remota, Neurociencia.

This article is a bibliometric analysis of competitive intelligence based on market data to determine the commercial state of the wearables market. The research is based on data analysis of a commercial database which provides us the inputs for extracting, collecting, analyzing, and processing data. Our scope is at first a general approach to wearables. Once the foundations have been laid, we perform an analysis of the wearables market to determine the type of wearables, wearables being more industrial shared, industries of wearables developing the most, products and/ or services being developed, wearables applications. We analyzed 3078 companies. the following industries were detected: Consumer Electronics, Health, and Fitness, Medical services, Telecommunications, textile, and Industrial Automation finding that the most successful industry is Consumer Electronics with 95.34% of followers. Finally, we found that the most important uses are Internet of Things, Digital Health, Rehabilitation, Telemedicine, and the emerging applications are Teleconsulting, Sign processing, Remote patient monitoring, Remote physical therapy, Neuroscience.
