dc.descriptionThe resumption of the British Protectorate in Mosquitia, has been normally related with imperialist considerations, and, in parallel, to the possession of a zone where it was planned to build an inter-oceanic channel through Nicaragua. In reality, these thesis pose serious difficulties to understand the origin and evolution of the Mosquitia issue, as they disregard, a priori, other types of factors that, among other things, end up undermining the imperialistic vision; a number of historic and civilization related factors, without doubt, but also strategic and commercial, made Great Britain to revive the practice of the Mosquitia Protectorate.

En realidad, estas tesis ofrecen serias dificultades para comprender el origen y evolución de la cuestión mosquitia, pues desconocen, a priori, otros tipos de factores que terminan socavando la visión imperialista; factores históricos y civilizacionales, sin duda, pero también estratégicos y comerciales, llevaron a la Gran Bretaña a revivir la práctica del protectorado mosquito.

Na verdade, estas teses oferecem sérias dificuldades para entender a origem e evolução da problemática da Mosquítia, pois desconsideram, a priori, outros fatores que também acabam enfraquecendo a visão imperialista. Fatores históricos e civilizacionais, sem dúvida, mas também estratégicos e comerciais, que levaram a Grã-Bretanha a reviver a prática do protetorado na Mosquítia.
