In Colombia, the Code of Ethics of the Public Accountant guides the actions of the professionals
of the accounting science, which establishes the basic principles of the professional ethics that
allows to recognize and to harmonize the social virtues of the Fiscal Reviewer not only as ethical
values but also as an intangible economic value that is contributed to the companies to reach the
joint objectives. In this sense, the present investigation arises with the objective of analyzing the
most recurrent sanctioned conducts in the exercise of the accounting profession specifically in the
discipline of the fiscal revision. The methodology used for this research is qualitative but also
quantitative since it quantifies the case studies sanctioned by the central board of accountants, with
a descriptive and documentary approach supported by hermeneutics. The analysis allows us to
conclude that the conduct that prevailed in the performance of the statutory auditor during the last
four years and for which he was most frequently sanctioned is the misconduct against professional
ethics.
