The measurement and reporting of the carbon footprint in industrial activities allows the establishment of comparison parameters over time, in terms of direct and indirect emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) to the atmosphere, in order to generate reduction strategies and / or compensation that contribute to the mitigation of global climate change. In Colombia, the carbon footprint in cemeteries with cremation service has not been calculated, and it is evident that crematory ovens generate direct emissions of (GHG) to the atmosphere. The main objective of this study was to determine the carbon footprint generated in the operating process of the Northern District Cemetery in order to propose measures to reduce (GHG) emissions. Using the methodology proposed by the Green House Gas Protol (GHG), It was found a total emission of 572.77 (tCO2e) , where the fixed emissions of scope one (crematorium ovens) contributed with 98.33% of the total emissions, 7 reduction strategies of greenhouse gases were established, the most significant corresponds to a change in technology, automating the control of the flow of gas that entering to the ovens, through regulating valves, which would mean a saving of 43,200 m3 of natural gas per year which is equivalent to a reduction of 84.46 (tCO2e) per year.
