For this, different databases were consulted such as Redalyc, Dialnet, Scielo, and Taylor & Francis and academic Google, the findings of 29 articles were collected. Aspects of self-injury and gender were found that are synthesized in four themes: The role of the family in the experience of self-injury of young women, subjectivity and identity in the experience of self-injury, ecology of self-injury and the understanding of the relationship self-harm and gender. Finally, from the gender perspective, aspects of the symbolic order, the social imaginary and the subjective imaginary that underlie self-injurious behaviors in adolescent women and their families are evidenced.
