Validación de contenido del cuestionario adult strabismus quality of life (AS-20) en pacientes estrábicos y optómetras del área de ortóptica en el año 2018

Abstract

Introduction: The strabismus is the pathological deviation of the eyes, which causes a misalignment of the eyeball, alteration of eye movements and, in some cases, abnormal position of the head. The sensory area is also affected, in such a way that it induces alterations such as suppression, amblyopia and diplopia. Objective: To evaluate the content validity of the AS-20 questionnaire in its Spanish version, with patients with strabismus and optometrists of the orthoptic area. Methodology: Diagnostic test evaluation study. Sociodemographic and clinical variables were evaluated, a univariate and bivariate analysis was performed. The evaluation format of the questionnaire was applied through a telephone call after application of the informed consent form in both patients and professionals in orthoptic area. Results: Question 15 obtained greater disagreement among the participants regarding the evaluation criteria related to relevance, semantics, experiential sense and writing. Question 18 obtained greater agreement among the participants in the four evaluation criteria. Conclusions: Taking into account the Kappa coefficient, it is necessary to eliminate questions 14 and 15 because they did not obtain a good score in any of the four evaluation criteria. Regarding the criteria of relevance and experiential sense, it is necessary to modify questions 7 and 9. Additionally, for the criteria of writing and semantics, it is necessary to modify question 6.
