The theme emerges from the problematization: how is perceived, by the perception of fellows of scientific
initiation, the legitimacy and tension of the hierarchical structure in the research group to which they belong?
The objective is to understand the innovative ways of building relationships between participants based on the
perception of the authors in the COTEDIC UNILASALLE/CNPq research group. This paper is configured as a
report of experience, with qualitative approach and descriptive type. The results point out: a hierarchical
organization arises from the absence of the original leadership; the hierarchy interferes with the rules built with
the leadership by delegitimizing the participants. It concludes the need of the innovative character in the posture
of the researchers, to enhance the feeling of belonging of the participants to the research group rethinking the
hierarchical structure traditionally instituted by academia. It is important that researchers instill mutual
acceptance to legitimize participants so that they can understand the meaning of their action for the construction
of scientific knowledge.
