Resumen
This research arises from the most representative cultural event of the department of Nariño, the Carnival of Blacks and Whites is an event that takes place in the city of San Juan de Pasto in southwestern Colombia, the different cultural manifestations that are exposed in it constitute the cultural roots of the Pastos and Quillasingas peoples, which leads along with the game to the declaration as intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO in 2009.
This carnival stands out for being a multicultural show where diverse social practices that come from the hybridization of cultures between indigenous, African and European populations are exposed. The pre-carnival starts from December 28 to 31 and the carnival takes place from January 2 to 7 of each year, where different activities are carried out, among which stand out the choreographic groups on January 3 that parade in the carnival path, where dance, group choreography, costumes, singing and songs alluding to the carnival are concentrated.
