Resumen
The expansion of large cities has generated the formation of new structures and metropolitan
centers that have transformed the territory, its use and purposes. The projects developed by
private companies and public institutions promote a new urban configuration in which urban,
socio-demographic and planning issues of the territory coexist, affecting the urban center itself
and the resident population and those who frequent it for work.
In this thematic area, the Cañaveral sector of Floridablanca has specific characteristics and
dynamics of growth and development, which make it a new shopping center, rooms and business
in the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga. From this perspective, the diagnosis of growth of the
sector is oriented to determine if this is a new urban centrality, as a differentiated center of
business, employment, population flow, and new territorial uses, as characteristic features of the
new centralities; In the same way it is sought to determine through the study of territorial
morphogenesis the factors and reasons that generated the transformation of the sector and the
identification of the physical, social and cultural elements associated with these changes.
