Resumen
The Chicamocha River is one of the most important for the department of Boyacá and Colombia, in late 2015 showed very high rates of contamination that presented it as the second most polluted river in the country. One of the most important works for the upstream is the Wastewater Treatment Plant of the city of Tunja, which has been done over 10 years ago with an investment of approximately 33 thousand millon pesos.
With data of 4 campaigns throughout 2015 by the Chicamocha River INGFOCOL company in contract with CORPOBOYACA, comprising the stretch from km 2 + 913 to kilometer 17 + 422 as determined study area; in these same reports physicochemical characterization of wastewater was along the river. As modeling program was chosen QUAL2KW version 6, which is a freely available software and presents a major upgrade that is the ability to simulate dynamic processes.
The main result of the modeling process was the identification of peak pollution in the section that corresponds to the discharge of Tunja and the generation of the respective scenaríos removal of the WWTP; besides this another result was static modeling that allows us to observe the behavior of the parameters monitored in the river. The dynamic modeling do not throw the expected results due to lack of data.
