The purpose of this research was to generate knowledge about the positive effects of the deprivation of intramural freedom, in the areas of adjustment of persons deprived of liberty (PPL) linked to prison treatment programs of the COMEB; using a qualitative methodology based on the design of content analysis, with a sample of 22 persons deprived of liberty; The information was obtained from semi-structured interviews that were analyzed through the matrix of meaning analysis (semantics). The results give evidence that there are positive effects of deprivation of intramural freedom according to the singular and subjective experiences of persons deprived of liberty, adaptation mechanisms, coping strategies and generalized resistance resources in the personality, strengthening of the family and emotional bond, filter of interpersonal relationships that imply a risk and vulnerability factor; increase in religious practice, personal involvement in the work and educational area that generates a feeling of self-improvement, strengthening of skills and competences for economic support.
