Resumen
Air pollution is currently one of the most significant environmental problems worldwide. In Colombia, especially in the city of Bogotá, it has been shown that, over the years, the state of air quality does not comply with the guidelines established by the World Health Organization. This situation affects not only environmental quality, but also affects the health of the population, especially vulnerable groups, such as expectant mothers. The objective of this study was to develop an analysis of preterm birth in relation to air pollution in the city of Bogotá during the period from 2014 to 2018. Using the values of the concentrations of pollutants obtained from the Air Quality Monitoring Network of the city, and the Live Born database provided by the District Health Department, a positive relationship was estimated, finding that there is a correlation in the variables, specifically with the pollutants PM10, PM2.5, SO2, NO2 and O3 that present a risk mothers to suffer a preterm birth.
