Resumen
Objetive: Analyze the wetting angle of ophthalmic lenses with superhydrophobic and hydrophobic coating that are exposed to different liquid substances.
Methodology: It is a quantitative laboratory test type study where 52 assemblies were made and tests were carried out with different types of water (distilled water, tap water, rainwater), testing the effectiveness of hydrophobic and superhydrophobic coatings on ophthalmic lenses made of CR-39 and Polycarbonate materials. The measurement was performed by means of the edge detection method and the images will be processed using MATLAB R2021a software. The following variables were considered: commercial houses (X, Y), ophthalmic lens coating, lens material, different types of water, contact angle measurement and edge detection method. For qualitative variables a frequency distribution analysis was performed and for quantitative variables an analysis of the type of distribution (coefficient of asymmetry and kurtosis), calculation of measures of central tendency (mean-median-mode) and calculation of measures of dispersion.
Results: A degree project was carried out where the effectiveness and variation of the contact angle in superhydrophobic and hydrophobic coating was evidenced when in contact with different types of water, presenting results that ranged between 34,8º and 81,7º respectively, obtained during the experimental assemblies, which serve as the basis for giving a recommendation and a good optical treatment to patients.
