The present pedagogical strategy designed is proposed to respond to the problem of poor reading comprehension presented by seventh grade students of the English Hispanic country school to read different texts in the classroom, a result that is obtained through bibliographic research and when applying a diagnostic test. to measure the level of critical, literal, inferential and critical reading. In the words of experts in linguistics, reading is a necessary instrument for carrying out new learning, it allows children and young people to become familiar with it and acquire the reading habit, having an adequate reading comprehension, allows the development of a more critical, for this reason the research proposes as a general objective to design a pedagogical strategy supported by the reading of works of youth literature for the development of reading comprehension of the seventh grade students of the Colegio Campestre Hispano Inglés de Yopal Casanare and as specific objectives, diagnose the shortcomings in reading comprehension presented by the students, propose a pedagogical strategy based on the findings of the diagnosis, implement the strategy and finally evaluate the results obtained taking into account the level of learning and the effectiveness of the proposal prepared. As theoretical references, the reading strategy before, during and after proposed by Solé (1992) was worked on. Regarding the methodology, it is carried out under the qualitative approach of observational-exploratory type with action research design developed in four phases, diagnose, design, implement and evaluate. When evaluating the results of the study, it is evident that before the implementation of the proposal the level of critical reading of the students was equivalent to 3%, after the intervention the level of critical reading increased to a percentage of 55%, therefore It is concluded that the elaborated proposal was effective and significant to develop the reading comprehension of the seventh grade students of the English Hispanic country school year 2020.
