Resumen
The Attorney General's Office is an Administrative Authority, in charge of investigating and disciplining public servants, it also has the legal power to restrict political rights such as the right to elect and be elected, however, according to numeral 2 of Article 23 of the Inter-American Convention on Human Rights, such power must be in the hands of a judge and the limitation must be made in a criminal proceeding, therefore, in a judgment of July 8, 2020, the Colombian State was ordered to adjust its domestic legal system to the provisions of the Convention within a reasonable period of time.
