Resumen
This thesis aims to assess the impact of nutritional status in the beneficiary population aged 0 to 17 years of the community kitchens programme, as a component of the public policy of food and nutritional security implemented in Bogota during the period from 2004 to 2015.
Different theoretical and conceptual approaches to food security are studied, based on the theory of well-being, to see how concepts of public policy and social control are proposed.
Likewise, the experiences of other Latin American countries with respect to community kitchens are shown and a review is made of the public policy developed in the government programmes implemented in Bogotá between 2004 and 2015.
The research performs an ex post measurement to determine the impact of the community canteens programme, constructing an econometric model in which individuals with prolonged exposure to the programme are compared with individuals with short exposure, defining variables associated with the child and the household that explain the probability of suffering from underweight.
By measuring the impact of this public policy, it is expected that participation in the canteen programme will improve the nutritional status of the population aged 0-17 years. On the other hand, the results obtained show that participating in the programme has an impact on children aged 0 to 5 years.
