The purpose of this research was to strengthen the reading comprehension skills of sixth
grade students in the Augusto Espinosa Valderrama high school in Monteria. Seeking with this the
improvement and performance in the subject of language through teaching strategies, based on
traditional narratives of the department of Córdoba.
The approach to the problem was defined based on the results of the external and internal
tests and a diagnosis about the skills in reading comprehension applied to 22 students. The
methodological design is assumed from the qualitative approach that aims to account for the
phenomena that occur around the subjects involved and the educational institution itself. This
research is aimed at the paradigm of intervention research, since a strategy implementation process
was initiated starting from the collective construction of the subjects involved. Developed from
the action research methodology, which stated a reflective scenario of the problem.
