Resumen
This investigation aims to determine the relationship between maladaptive personality traits and coping strategies in people between 20 and 40 years old from Villavicencio. It is a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional study with a descriptive-correlational scope, two questionnaires were used; the questionnaire of the International Personality Disorders Examination (IPDE) and the Coping Responses Inventory-Adult (CRI-A). The sample was made up of people between 20 and 40 years old from the city of Villavicencio. As results of the study, it was found that approximately 29.3% did not register any of the (RPD), while about 70.7% scored or scored moderately for some of them, the borderline trait being the highest with 32.6%. In relation to coping strategies, it was determined that the most used by the participants are the search for alternative gratification, acceptance, cognitive avoidance, positive reassessment, emotional discharge, search for guidance or support, logical analysis and Finally, problem solving, which in turn made it possible to show the presence of a possible tendency to use avoidance strategies. Also, it was possible to show through the Spearman coefficient that there is no presence of a significant correlation between the variables. Finally, for future research, it is suggested that a comparative study be carried out between a population sample that has a basic psychological diagnosis and a sample that does not, with the aim of evaluating the possible differences between these groups in relation to the way in which facing highly stressful situations each of the individuals.
