Resumen
For the manufacture of asphalt mixtures, large quantities of non-renewable stone materials are consumed that cause irreversible damage to the environment. One of the alternatives to replace these materials are black slag from electric arc furnace and recycled rubber grain, since these are disposed in large quantities by Colombian industries and at the international level. For this reason, this project was to determine the optimal dosage of dense hot asphalt mixtures type 19, modified with recycled rubber grain and black slag from electric arc furnace. The Marshall methodology was implemented to evaluate the mechanical performance of a conventional asphalt mixture compared to the modified asphalt mixture.
The modified asphalt mixture type 19 was designed with variations in asphalt cement 60-70 as follows: 90% bitumen and 10% grain of recycled rubber, this according to the research carried out by Bansal et al. (2017) in which it is concluded that the most effective dosage for the modification of the binder is the one mentioned above. In the coarse aggregates the variations were 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% black slag from electric arc furnace. Resulting in a new type of modified asphalt mixture that causes a positive impact on the environment, the road infrastructure sector and meets the minimum specifications for construction.
