Resumen
Agua de Dios is a town belonging to the municipality of Cundinamarca in Colombia, which is located in the Alto Magdalena province, north of Tocaima, between Girardot and Melgar, 114 km from Bogotá.
It is a town that is mainly recognized in Colombia for being "a town of lepers", where a place was erected to isolate people affected by leprosy disease since the 19th century.
They tell the stories of the current inhabitants that people came to the territory for its climate and for the hot springs that were found in Agua de Dios and in the nearby municipalities.
These waters came from Tocaima, a town near Agua de Dios. These warm waters were important for people, since they attributed the decrease in joint ailments, and therefore, they used them to heal their diseases and injuries, among other things.
