Resumen
The general objective of this work was to determine the water quality index of the lower basin of the Tuluá River hydrographic basin, through the study of physicochemical and microbiological analyses, taking into account the anthropic activities that are generated in the routes of the Tuluá River. basin, which negatively affect the properties of the source. The characterization of the activities showed that the greatest demand for the resource is found in the flat area of the Tuluá River, that is, the lower basin, an area in which agriculture and the uses of chemicals for it, industrial, commercial and residential infrastructure, direct dumping to the river, among other activities, are the practices that will most improve the quality of the water from this water source. The determination of the ICA Water Quality Index, for the water source of the Tuluá River, yielded regular results for the months of April and May, however in the month of June its result was acceptable taking into account the values established by the IDEAM for this index, the above may be due to the influence of the values of the DO, COD and conductivity parameters and their acquisition in each of the months; The microbiological analyzes of total coliforms and fecal coliforms had a great impact on the ICA, since values between 5,700 to 32,000 CFU/100 cm3 appeared for Total coliforms and 600 to 3,200 CFU/100 cm3 for the fecal coliform parameter. Finally, considering the importance of the hydrographic basin of the Tuluá River, which is also a supply source for the aqueduct of the urban area of the municipality of Tuluá, environmental programs were formulated, such as the program for the management of solid waste, the program for the management of water residues and environmental education program, which allow the control and mitigation of the affectations of the water quality of the lower basin of the Tuluá River and therefore, they were taken into account taking into account the participation of the community, the productive sectors of the areas of influence, territorial entities and others, that manage to have a positive impact on said basin.
