Resumen
Romantic love as a particular way of seeing love, despite being present in much of our cultural conception of love, has been identified and denounced as alienating and oppressive by a diversity of academics from different social disciplines such as philosophy, sociology and psychology. However, Christianity has taken over much of the romantic ideas, incorporating them into its own pious conception of love without realizing it. That is why this article aims to resize the theology of the actual couple from the criticism of romantic love, showing how problematic this conception is and the way it is present in the Christian conception of love. This from a personalistic phenomenological approach of the couple, and from the contemporary theological currents that emerged after the Second Vatican Council. Proposing in this way new horizons of reflection on the human couple that respond to the actual context.
