Resumen
In one of the most forgotten territories by the Colombian State, the highest quality emeralds have been formed in the world market, at present their formal exploitation is carried out by large multinationals which contributed to a modernization for the emerald market. However, in the historical and structural base of the emerald exploitation there are populations dedicated to artisanal mining or traditional guaqueria, which in recent years have seen their living conditions in a worrying precariousness and facing extreme poverty, where the women make a strong presence in this work. That is why within this research a structural analysis is carried out from the concepts of class, class consciousness and gender where the study and mining work carried out by the women of the Muzo municipality is centered.
