Resumen
To identify the knowledge, practice and experience about taking cervical cytology in a group of women in Pamplona. Method: non-probabilistic sampling for convenience, an instrument was applied and data analysis was carried out. Results: increase in the level of knowledge about cervical cytology related to age, educational level and high socioeconomic level. Negative and positive feelings directed to the cervical cytology process did not influence the frequency of the practice, and the reasons attributed to the non-performance of the test were carelessness, lack of time, postponement, laziness and fear. Conclusions: The greater knowledge on the part of women about cervical cytology, cervical cancer and human papillomavirus has motivated the taking of the exam, however, negative experiences have led many women to prefer to make an expense pocket-size.
