Resumen
One of the most outstanding characteristics of the studies of philosophy of science of the century that we are experiencing is its recognition of the limitations that traditional, formalist and historicist views entail. That is why the philosophical studies on scientific practices that have gained space since the end of the previous century, make particular emphasis on the need to build approaches that, in addition to the formal aspects and interpretations of its history, allow showing the science as permeated by social and individual values, which favors certain practices based on sometimes dubious reasons, which imposes a notion of rationality that can be highly exclusive, colonizing and even naive.
In order to rethink scientific rationality, the ways in which science permeates communities of both practitioners and the general public, creating tensions that cannot be explained by any kind of reductionist approach, the project reflects on critical philosophy, epistemologies Contextual and epistemological justice about a philosophy for a socially responsible science.
If science is both efficient and violent, expanding horizons and closing opportunities, giving and taking life, it is clear that it is not only epistemic values that guide its tasks, nor that it can be stated exhaustively that its results are simply good or bad . The Philosophy for a Socially Responsible Science research project is committed to the idea that the lives that are touched by the sciences, regardless of whether they are within research centers or in their remotest periphery, should be considered as possible science study guides and their practices.
