Resumen
The present document shows the development of a research guided by the intention of responding comprehensively to the question of whether the right to conscientious objection can be constituted in exception to the fulfillment of the constitutional and legal obligations of the citizen vis-a-vis the Colombian State. To this end, a simple presentation of the conscientious objection will be made based on 4 variables: a) Historical evolution of the legal concept, including a brief comparison with scenarios of other countries; B) Legal nature of this fundamental right, ruled by national and international courts; C) Relation of the conscientious objection with other obligations of the citizen; D) Recording of possible gaps in the procedure followed in Colombia for the weighting of the application of freedom of conscience. Finally, the conclusions of the research are formulated in a brief manner.
