Objective: Obtain an adapted questionnaire to identify the knowledge, attitudes and practices in oral health of preteens in Colombia. Methodology: A cross-sectional study of the transcultural translation and adaptation of a questionnaire of knowledge, attitudes and practices in oral health, developed and validated in another country, was carried out. The process that includes the translation of the questionnaire from English to Spanish, the evaluation of the content, a descriptive analysis of the results, correction of the questionnaire, final version of the questionnaire, evaluation of the consistency in the Spanish versions, retro-translation and evaluation of the semantic consistency of the English versions, which adapts a correction and translation of the questionnaire. Results: The translation of the questionnaire, knowledge, attitudes and practices in oral health in India, from English to Spanish by an official Native American-speaking translator was performed. A first focus group was integrated, composed of 4 professional experts. Once the questionnaire was evaluated with the experts, the modifications were made to be applied to the second focus group, consisting of 10 preteens between the ages of 9-12 years, where it is evident most preteens understood the questions and answers of each Questionnaire section, regardless of the questions that were not understood, were evaluated and modified according to their indications. A final version was generated that was collated and endorsed by expert dentists approving consistency in the three Spanish versions. Finally, the final version of the Spanish language was translated into English verifying their semantic equivalence. Conclusions: A questionnaire translated and adapted to Spanish was obtained with a semantic correspondence to the original questionnaire to assess knowledge, attitudes and practices of oral health in preadolescents aged 9 to 12 years.
