        Resumen
Due to the health contingency that arose globally on the occasion of the emergence of the virus scientifically referred to as SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), several governments including ours took all necessary measures to counteract the massive contagion of the population, all under the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) which declared the pandemic since 11 March 2020; However, in Colombia, while action began to be taken against the pandemic, it is clear that certain social sectors were more vulnerable and had few guarantees of protection, such as the prison sector. The objective of this study is to determine whether the measures taken by the National Government against the pandemic triggered by the SRAS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19), specifically Decree 546 of 2020, were effective in the prison sector. To this end, this research will be carried out with field work taking as sources of research the data, figures and statistics of the prison establishment of Combita, a detention centre on which the study will focus. (Where it is sought to establish at the outset the actual capacity of the prison and how many inmates had until the day before the entry into force of the decree, thus being able to determine the degree of overcrowding, followed by the verification of how many people benefited from Decree 546 of 2020, comparative analysis of results obtained and objective of the Decree of Release).
