Resumen
In the course of history, the category "human dignity" has been elucidated from various paradigms that have been generated in plural contexts allowing it to be identified as a value inherent to the human being. The question of meaning and the need to find a dignified existence, with real meaning, is part of the human condition, and becomes a transversal axis of the person. Indeed, the understanding of dignity is a construct that is referenced by different fundamental understandings that are framed in diverse scenarios within the personal, social and historical dimension. In this regard, the category "human dignity" has some meanings at the cultural, social, religious, philosophical, anthropological, economic, political, etc., as well as historical features from Western thought, based on some philosophers from the rationality and honorary status. Likewise, the theological conception includes the human being emphasizing the fact of being created in the image of God, with relational capacity, as some theologians like Saint Augustine and Saint Thomas Aquinas insist. In the era of the Renaissance, the concept of "dignity" is intertwined between reflections that lead to a dialogue between reason and faith, highlighting the capacity of the human being to stand on his own feet, to be autonomous and to develop his full potential. With respect to the human being, Kant reflects on his integrity and his fulfillment under the moral law and the ethical minimums that his interaction in society implies. In the current context, it is evident that these conceptions are framed in concrete situations that emerge from a cultural, social, political and religious environment, often immersed in structures that oppress the human being from an understanding of utility, instrumentalization and little recognition of the fundamental rights that sustain their existence. Particularly in Latin America, the experiences of the peoples relate innumerable forms of violence, marginalization, poverty, and injustice, among others.
