Abstract

In concern with the body-self relationship, the field of body therapy offers alternative understandings and interventions to dominant “mentalist” or “physicalist” perspectives of human being in education, health and everyday life. From the question about the knowledge produced in the last ten years in the field of body therapy, this research Project finds in body experience the synthesis between emotion, thought, feeling, consciousness, movement and posture. By means of a documentary qualitative approach, it collects and organizes relevant information from databases, electronic journals and web sites, to identify trends in knowledge and establish the contributions arising, in order to open research educational and professional practices with the basic body recognition as the linchpin of human existence and substantiate the redesign of professional programs toward a holistic and integrative perspective.
