Resumen
The following degree work aims to analyze the resilience against the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder in a mother-child case from the city of Villavicencio. This research is qualitative and is oriented on the case study method, using the in-depth interview as a strategy, where we worked with a mother who lives with her adult child diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The categories proposed for the research were Resilience, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Family. Regarding the results obtained, it was possible to identify that the participant throughout her life has had to look for tools that allow her to cope with adverse circumstances such as the diagnosis of the autism spectrum of her eldest son and other complex situations that forced her to reorganize his personal, family and social dynamics, therefore he has developed skills that have allowed him to respond to care, basic care and meet the economic needs of the home to safeguard the well-being of his family as well as his own.
Likewise, an emerging category arises that refers to the importance of caring for the caregiver, since it leads to the recognition of the mother's overload in the basic care of her family system, causing her to wear out physically, emotionally and mentally, taking into account the absence of economic support, support from the father of their children and government entities in charge of protecting mothers and children in special conditions.
