dc.description.abstractExternal cervical resorption is a rare disease that begins in the cervical area of the tooth, presents a complex and invasive pattern that makes it difficult to diagnose in its initial stage and considered clinically as a great challenge at the time of being treated. Most authors report that orthodontic, dentoalveolar trauma and intracameral whitening treatments are the main etiological factors of this pathology. The treatment of external cervical resorption seeks to keep the affected teeth in a healthy and functional state, the successful treatment is based on the location, size, accessibility of the lesion. The objective of this review was to determine the most reported treatment in the literature for the management of external cervical resorption. The literature revealed that the most common procedure was the surgical approach, with the glass ionomer being the most used material.
